The reputation of Portumna Retirement Village as one of the leading nursing home centres in Ireland was further enhanced in February 2013 when it achieved a Runners Up prize at the European Business Excellence Awards 2013 held at the Cascais Mirage, Cascais, in Portugal.

Portumna Retirement Village was recognised for the impact that it has had on the local community since it opened in December 2007, not only in terms of its standard of healthcare but also because of the financial impact the business has had on the area since it opened. Since opening, the centre has demonstrated substantial support for local community groups and to local businesses. The centre employs sixty- six local people.
