To Mary and all the Staff

Hello Everyone,

It has taken me some time to write this Thank You note.  The delay is not because I have forgotten you caring and kindness during Dad’s time in the Nursing Home.  I will never forget your kindness, support and understanding during a very difficult time for Dad, and also for my Mother, myself and all the family.  As you know going into a nursing home is very difficult for all involved, as it was for Dad and ourselves.  Again, when Dad’s condition deteriorated and when he was dying it was hard to see him suffer. And no matter how ill or how old, losing your Dad is always very painful, as it was for me and my family, and for my mother losing her husband.  And throughout it all, this time last year this time last year when he was there for a month and from June until his death in January you were there.  Looking after Dad on a day to day basis, welcoming us when we came to visit.  I want to thank you all for your kindness, support and understanding and I want to acknowledge your skills and professionalism at every level, all of which made a difficult situation bearable.  I particularly want to express my appreciation for all you did for Dad in his last weeks.  Your unstinting care at every level, being with Dad constantly, supporting myself and the family as we came and went – I can’t tell you how much it meant and again Thank You.  Although thank You does not seem adequate for what you did.  As I said above I will never forget it.  Thank each and every one of you.

Warmest Good Wishes

Sincere Thanks

Dear Mary

Sincere thanks for the warm welcome you and the staff gave me today.  I was so content when I was a patient with you that I now feel the patients are my pals, the staff are my friends and Scottie is my pet.  It is where I would like to retire to when the time comes.

Give my regards to Tony.

Kindest regards to you all

Most sincerely

A Poem written by one of our residents.

To a Nurse

I

A smile is ever on your face

It looks so clear and bright

It sheds a lustre all around

From each morning until night

II

You tend the sick with loving care

And with childlike simple grace

And with a blessing move along

Depicted on your face

III

You care not for the world’s wealth

For you there is but one goal

While caring for the body

You are mindful of the soul

IV

You see the image of your Lord

In Man’s poor Shattered frame

You bind his wounds and soothe his pain

And seek no earthly gain

V

“Well done thou good and faithful child”

Those words apply to you

Right well do you deserve that crown

We all should have in view

VI

For work well done is glory won

And it brings its own reward

A faithful servant you are being

In the vineyard of the Lord

VII

May a shadow never cross your path

Let the sun their always shine

And when lives sun has left for e’er

A golden crown be thine

VII

This tribute of respect I pay

This poor poet do not censure

For noble is the work each day
