Referendum

The residents of Portumna Retirement Village voted in the Referendum on the Thirty-sixth Amendment of the Constitution (the removal of the Eight Amendment). The residents were able to vote in a special voting booth set up within the nursing home. Residents at Portumna Retirement Village are listed on a special voters role and can exercise their right to vote in elections and in any referendum from the comfort of the nursing home. Speaking after the vote, residents expressed their delight at the facility that gives them the ability to vote and have their say on important matters that affect the country. The residents will vote again in the Presidential Election in October.
